Anointing of the Sick: Finding Comfort in Faith

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick brings forth Christ’s healing and strength, providing solace to the elderly, those facing life-threatening illnesses, or upcoming medical procedures.

If you have a hospital admission planned, don’t hesitate to reach out to your parish priest for the Sacrament’s arrangement. Your priest can anoint you during a weekday Mass, at your home with family, or in a private setting at your convenience. This not only brings you spiritual support but also lets your parish community stand by you in times of sickness and distress.

In case of an emergency hospital admission, you can still ask for your priest’s visit to administer the Sacrament. Alternatively, the hospital’s Roman Catholic chaplain can be contacted by ward staff to arrange for the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick and other prayerful support during your hospital stay.

If you or someone you know requires this Sacrament, please reach out to the parish office at 020 8560 1431.

Prayer for the Sick

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest your weary ones. Bless your dying ones. Soothe your suffering ones. Pity your afflicted ones. Shield your joyous ones. And for all your love’s sake. Amen
