The Christmas Fayre was a great success. One of the new features was a Children's Christmas Lunch with Santa which attracted some 60 youngsters! (See Video link below!) We are grateful to St. Mary's School for letting us use the School Hall again, as well as our own and for the help from members of the PTA. This year the Fayre was open for an hour longer than previously, from 11am to 4pm and volunteers rose to the occasion while visitors pressed to get in even earlier! Takings for the Fayre are up from last year with gross takings of £7,215, we did have more expenses this year however we still finished at a net amount of £5,195. Its an amazing amount of money, and as some of you might know, this money will help fund the pensioners post Christmas meal which is on Sunday 22nd of January at 1 pm and also most importantly it helps run the Parish Hall.
The Post-Christmas Lunch for Older Parishioners held on 22nd January 2017 was like Christmas all over again! The Hall decorations were still up and presents were distributed. The lunch was of traditional Christmas fayre, a Roast of Turkey, Ham, and Potatoes with a variety of vegetables and tasty gravy. Leek and Potato Soup for starters and a choice of Trifle or Apple Crumble and Custard rounded off a delicious meal accompanied by a choice of wine. Afterwards we were entertained by members of the church choirs and joined in a variety of hymns and songs and songs.
Special thanks to Gale who organised the Fayre, her efforts were unstinting. She also contributed much to the Lunch though unfortunately she was not well enough to participate and we wish her good health and a speedy recovery. Special thanks also to Adrianne, Maria, Alf and others who worked so hard for both occasions. Also to Nowell for his copious photographs and to those who compiled the video of the Fayre. We gratefully thank Mr. Marsh, Sam and Kirk for use of the school facilities for the Fayre. The musicians and choir performing at the Lunch added greatly to the atmosphere of the occasion and very special thanks to them.
